OneWalk. One Day. ALL Cancers.
In September 2016, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I went through surgery followed by 5 weeks of daily radiation and was cancer free UNTIL THIS WEEK. I went for a follow up mamogram and ultrasound and they discovered and unrelated new breast cancer in the other breast To say I was shocked was an understatement. How could this have happened to me again. All the doctors were also in shock as this was such an unusual and rare situation. OMG not again.. I had lost my brother, mother and maternal aunts to different forms of cancer, so this news really hit close to home. So over the next 9 months I will be couragous and strong, and put my life back into the hands of the skilled and knowledgeable nurses, oncologist, surgeons and radiation teams at Princess Margaret Hospital.
I am grateful to the tireless work, heartfelt commitment, compassion, superb care and tireless dedication to finding a cure and humane treatments for not only breast cancer, but all cancers. We are so blessed to have the Princess Margarett Hospital in our own back yard. For this reason, I have formed Hesty's Besties and will walk to support this important fundraiser.
OneWalk to Conquer Cancer™ is The Princess Margaret's next-generation fundraiser to conquer ALL cancers. The funds I raise through OneWalk support Personalized Cancer Medicine at The Princess Margaret, one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world, enabling its world-leading clinicians and researchers to detect cancers earlier, diagnose with more precision, target treatment for each patient and support patients and their families throughout the cancer journey.
Together we will march through Toronto, making history in the fight to conquer cancer. I'm asking you to join me today by making a donation to my personal fundraising goal or to the Hesty's Besties Team. Through the support of OneWalk, we will help The Princess Margaret make life better for those facing cancer. It touches all of us at one point in our lives. Together, we can conquer cancer in our lifetime!
