Welcome to My Personal Page
Rexall OneWalk to Conquer Cancer a walk through the neighbourhoods of Toronto on September 7-8, 2018. It will be a challenge and I am ready to take on this effort to walk 55 kilometers and support blood cancer reasearch at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre!
In 1990, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a mastectomy. There was no recurrance, or so we thought. In 2002, the cancer returned to her lungs and in 2004, the cancer spread to her brain and her bones. On October 7, 2004, she passed away at the young age of 60 years. She was not able to attend my wedding on May 22, 2005. Her absence at that event and in my life is apparent. I walk so we can one day find a cure for this horrible disease.
In 1976, when my wife was only 5 years old, she was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Now 43 years later, she is in remission.
I have participated in the 'Weekend to End Breast Cancer' in Alberta since its inception in 2005, and one of the years, in 2012, I participated in both the walks in Calgary and Toronto.
This walk is for my late mother and my wife and many other people that have lost their lives, or are fighting this horrible disease, so we will one day have a world without cancer
My commitment is based on love and my realization that we each need to do our part in this fight. I can walk. I can raise funds to benefit The Campbell Family Institute at The Princess Margaret, a leader in the fight against all women's cancers. I can and choose to be a part of this movement to save lives.
I ask you to join my Circle For Hope. Be a part of my very personal journey - by giving, by walking with me, or simply by sharing my story with your circle of influence.
This is my journey.
