Welcome to My Personal Page
But I count myself lucky, every day I am thankful that I only had to have surgery, no other treatments were required. There are so many people who are not as lucky as me. They go through rounds of chemo, or radiation therapy, losing their hair, losing weight, losing their sense of who they were before they had cancer. Some of these people will lose their battle…. BUT many of them will not. Cancer is not the scary word it once was. When my mom was diagnosed with cancer in the early 1980’s there was not much hope, she survived in spite of it all for more than 20 years after her initial diagnosis. Now there is more hope. Cancer is not a death sentence anymore.
This is what the Princess Margaret CC represents to me hope… hope and inspiration. To have a world class research facility and hospital right here in our community working on finding new and innovative treatments, providing personalized cancer care and searching for a cure to this difficult disease is inspiring to me. And it gives me hope, hope that my children or my grandchildren don’t have to hear those words that I heard.
A lot of progress has already been made at Princess Margaret and we can help them do more. I am going to walk again in the Rexall One Walk to conquer cancer because I believe that we can fight this disease and we can improve people’s lives that are living with cancer. Right here in our community we have this fantastic resource of the PMCC. Right here in our community there is ground breaking research going on. Right here there is hope for a cure. I am proud to be able to support the Princess Margaret by walking again this year. And I hope that you will join me.Please make a donation today.
